Your Guide to the Venice Art Crawl – Thursday, March 17

Venice has a long and storied history as a vibrant epicenter for artists, musicians, actors, architects, and other creative types. Designers Charles and Ray Eames had their offices on Abbot Kinney. Architect Frank Gehry designed several well-known houses in Venice, including must-sees on the beach. Jean-Michel Basquiat, John Baldessari, Dennis Hopper, Ed Ruscha, and many more visual artists maintained studios here. Legendary rock band The Doors were formed here in 1965. Today, artists as varied as musician Fiona Apple, South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, actress Anjelica Huston, and actor Robert Downey Jr. all call Venice home. With such a dynamic history and community, the Venice Art Crawl, which is held quarterly, fosters and invigorates the vital Venice art scene. It’s simple one of my favorite Los Angeles events. Below are all of the events and galleries participating in 2016’s first Venice Art Crawl happening this Thursday, March 17.

An abstract painter, process artist at heart leads to a lot of pages of non-note. Deborah then takes these papers cuts, glues and arranges them to give a feel of place and time. In addition to the little landscape series there will be a couple of big paintings and other stuff like this great book written by a dog that gives back to the rescue community and who knows what else will be created by the time March 17th rolls around.
