On warm evenings beginning in May, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art becomes one of the city’s most inviting stages. Now in its 36th summer season, Jazz at LACMA returns, bringing together a rotating lineup of acclaimed musicians and rising talents for free, open-air performances in the heart of Los Angeles. Seating for the program is available in the museum’s welcome plaza on a first-come, first-served basis, though you’re welcome to picnic on the grass, too (you won’t really be able to see the show, but you’ll still hear it). As the sun dips behind the Urban Light installation and the crowd settles onto blankets and low chairs, the series captures a distinctly local rhythm. Jazz at LACMA art cultural ritual, part neighborhood gathering, and entirely emblematic of the city’s enduring love affair with live music under the sky. Expect it to draw an even bigger crowd this year, thanks to the newly opened David Geffen Galleries. So get there early before showtime at 6pm, grab a seat (unless you plan to dance), a glass of wine, and settle in to a wonderful and warm night of live jazz that stretches well past sunset.
The 2026 summer season at the Hollywood Bowl arrives with both celebration and transition at its core. Anchoring the lineup is a week in August honoring Gustavo Dudamel in his 17th and final season as Music and Artistic Director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, alongside a roster that stretches confidently across classical, jazz, hip-hop, pop, rock, film music and fireworks spectacles.
The season officially opens June 20 with “The Best of Broadway,” a curtain-raising evening devoted to musical theater’s most enduring songs. From there, the Bowl’s famously eclectic programming accelerates into a three-month survey of global sound.

Get ready for a summer like no other. Hollywood Bowl has just announced its season, a celebration of 100 years of incredible music under the stars and one epic lineup.
Chad Smith, CEO of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra has said this year’s schedule, with a wide-range of genres, reflects those early goals for Hollywood Bowl to “democratize music and culture in our city.”
L.A. Phil maestro Gustavo Dudamel will conduct 10 concerts this season, including a run of five nights in July that features the third act of Wagner’s Valkyrie and the Paris Opera Ballet. And yes, Sound of Music and Star Wars are happening again. Check out the full schedule below!
Modernism Week returns to Palm Springs Thursday, February 13th through Sunday, February 23rd. It’s no coincidence the annual event, which attracts thousands from around the world, is occurring on Valentine’s Day weekend this year. Modernism Week is an absolute love letter to the desert city of Palm Springs. It’s the city’s signature celebration of all things mid-century modern: architecture, food and wine, style and design, vintage Hollywood, culture, and so much more. There will be home tours of Palm Spring’s most architecturally significant houses, talks with experts, designers, and architects, film screenings, live music, drag bingo, cooking demonstrations and special atomic age-themed dinners and other culinary events, dancing, and, if the weather forecast holds, plenty of sun.

While Modernism Week is always an extraordinarily popular event for Palm Springs, there are still plenty of shows that still have tickets available. Yes, Charles Phoenix’s Super Duper Double Decker Bus Tour sold out months ago, we’ve highlighted some of our most anticipated events below and there are still dozens of others available to choose from. We’ll be staying at the recently remodeled and just opened Les Cactus boutique hotel in the city’s Warm Sands neighborhood, but a cursory glance online shows there are still dozens of rooms and rentals available, or, with events scheduled throughout the day and into the evening, Modernism Week also makes the perfect day trip from Los Angeles, Orange County, or San Diego.
What better love letter could Los Angeles send us today, on Valentine’s Day, then the Hollywood Bowl’s 2017 Lineup? Highlights include Ziggy Marley, Blondie, Tony Bennett, Solange, Jack Johnson, Diana Krall, and, of course, Dudamel, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Los Angeles, I’m yours!
