Cinespia Cemetery Outdoor Screening Series Schedule 2017

Los Angeles’s favorite outdoor summer screening series Cinespia has released the titles of their first eight films. Now entering their 16th season (wow!), Cinespia has chosen a trio of iconic Los Angeles-based films and one Hitchcock classic predominately filmed in town. Get your picnic basket ready for more Hollywood nights under the stars. Cheers to LA in May!

Barnsdall Art Park Wine & Movie Nights (Fridays starting Sept. 4)

The Barnsdall Art Park Foundation is hosting its Wine & a Movie fundraising series at the West Lawn of Frank Lloyd Wright’s famed Hollyhock House from. Sept. 4 through Oct. 2

Every Friday guests can catch a flick at sundown each week with a glass of wine from San Antonio Winery.

Visitors are encouraged to pack a picnic, blanket and pillow. And if you leave the picnic basket behind, never fear, many of LA’s best and most delicious food trucks will also be lined up on the premises.

In addition to the screening, there will be a DJ and pre-show entertainment, with new surprise guests each week.

Screening tickets are available for $25.

Sept. 4: Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars – A Cinefamily Bowie Mixtape of Rarities, followed by a screening of D.A. Pennebaker’s Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars co-presented by Cinespia. The Stardust String Quartet will also play classically-arranged Bowie for pre-show entertainment.

Sept. 11: Jules et Jim Picnic – Co-presented by La Collectionneuse, Décadanse Soirée who will deliver French tunes and Zebulon LA, the newest outpost by the beloved Brooklyn music cafe, which will curate live music.

Sept 18: An Evening of EXPANDED Cinema on 16mm – Presented by Cinespia Salons, the thrilling evening will feature the greatest experimental, exploratory, and psychedelic filmmakers on 16mm with Jordan Belson, John Whitney, Pat O’Neill and more.

Sept 25: Black Orpheus with a Tribute to Carlinhos Pandeiro de Ouro – Now one the world’s greatest Samba players, LA-based Carlinhos was a child star in this Brazilian classic and will present the film. On this day, Barnsdall pays tribute to this important and influential musical ambassador with a Roda de Choro,” a musical jam, hosted by Thalma De Freitus and other incredible musicians.

Oct. 2: Fellini Satyricon with pre-feast – Join us for a late-summer Satyricon-style feast en plein air and witness the wildest Roman spectacle of them all while we revel in a film that makes no sense!
