Sawyer Silver Lake Opens in the Sunset Triangle

Sawyer Silver Lake is the latest entry to the neighborhood’s ever growing restaurant scene and features shareable seafood small plates, a breezy outdoor patio, and one killer daily happy hour, from 4 to 7 p.m., that boasts $4 beer, $5 wine, $6 well drinks, and $8 cocktails, along with a half dozen oyster special and a glass of beer or wine for only $12.

Envisioned by restauranteurs Beau Laughlin, Brett Cranston, and Jay Milliken, and former East Coast chef Alex McWilliams, Sawyer brings a much needed dose of hearty seafood to Silver Lake. After all, L&E Oyster Bar only has about sixteen tables!

The charming and open bar features a wine list designed by former Osteria Mozza sommelier Dario Dell’Anno, and cocktails crafted by Devon Espinosa of the Church Key

I have a feeling Sawyer’s lovely garden patio is about to become a favorite of many east siders. Shaded by olive and birch trees and fueled by a fantastic fireplace, the patio creates a romantic and intimate fine dining experience.

Chef McWilliams has previously worked under celebrity chefs Tom Colicchio and José Andres, so you can be sure the food will not disappoint. It is precise, seasonal, and dare I say, daring.

Dinner dishes include sweet corn and razor clam chowder, chilled seafood platters, soft shell crab sandwiches with red cabbage and scallion mayo, smoked trout and sprouted wheat berries, duck fat popovers with English blue cheese, a salt cod brandade, and a Carolina fried chicken with jalapeño grits. Sawyer also began brunch this past weekend on June 4, and it was surprisingly simple getting a table, drink in hand. Brunch options include a sunny side hash of duck confit and root vegetables and ling cod tacos.
