Celebrate New Year’s Eve at Echo Park’s Lady Byrd Cafe
Lady Byrd Cafe in Echo Park will be having an exclusive New Year’s Eve Dinner featuring a specially crafted menu from Chef Gabriel Cappelli from New Haven, Connecticut, and a graduate of The French Culinary Institute in New York. It may just be the best deal for a New Year’s Eve dinner here in Los Angeles, coming in at just under $100 a head. And best of all? There are still a few tables available, so make your reservations ASAP.
Chef Gabriel has spent the last 11 years living in Los Angeles, opening restaurants and orchestrating experiential dining events. His cooking style has a farm-to-table approach, with many of his flavors stemming from both Persian and southern Italian cuisine inspired by his Sicilian-American mother, who was born and raised in Iran with her siblings before the revolution. For one night only, there will be a curated menu featuring an appetizer, entree, and dessert with an optional wine pairing for an experience that is quintessentially Los Angeles. Tickets start from $68 per person, with wine pairings starting at $90. Read on for the full menu:

To Start
brown butter squash bruschetta, fried capers, tatsoi marinated in olive oil and garlic
Appetizer
cream of chickpea soup, tomato and celery ‘sapicon’, saffron creme fraiche
Entree
choice of chicken ballotine with mushroom duxelle, roasted cauliflower finished in grass fed herb butter, Parmesan millet or sea bream with sunchokes and beets, yogurt with dill, Persian mint and cucumber pearls
Dessert
honeycomb bread pudding, honey meringue, pistachio ice cream
A little bit about Chef Gabriel Cappelli: He has worked at Michel Nischan and Paul Newman’s legendary The Dressing Room restaurant, where he learned to cook healthily and sustainably using only seasonal and local ingredients. This mindset about food has remained a constant focus in his career. He is also deeply inspired by West African and French cuisine as well as the ‘Slow Food’ movement.
