Cinespia Cemetery Outdoor Screening Series Schedule 2017

Los Angeles’s favorite outdoor summer screening series Cinespia has released the titles of their first eight films. Now entering their 16th season (wow!), Cinespia has chosen a trio of iconic Los Angeles-based films and one Hitchcock classic predominately filmed in town. Get your picnic basket ready for more Hollywood nights under the stars. Cheers to LA in May!

Saturday, May 13
Directed by Roman Polanski (1974, 2h 10min)
Golden sunsets, deco mansions, and the neon of Chinatown paint a backdrop to a mystery in one of cinema’s greatest masterpieces. Jack Nicholson and Faye Dunaway star in the gripping murder mystery set in pre-war LA when a few men sought to control the city. A private eye investigates the murder of a city planner, and slowly uncovers a plot that would change the city forever. Can he discover the secret before it’s too late? Gripping, suspenseful but also very funny, North By Northwest stands as Hitchcock’s greatest with one of the most iconic scenes in cinema.

Daddy’s girl Baby (Jennifer Grey) catches a glimpse of bad boy dancer Johnny Castle (Patrick Swayze) practicing his moves in a Catskills resort. The ballgame comes to Cinespia at their 25th-anniversary screening of the heart warming classic! Director Penny Marshall leads a powerful cast of women in this sweet and smart true story about women trailblazers. Major league baseball players are overseas due to World War II, and women from all over America band together to take their place. A ragtag group of women made up of outsiders, oddballs and sweethearts come together. After they join the league things will never be the same as the Rockford Peaches try and win the world series and a new era for women. Tom Hanks plays the drunk manager and Geena Davis as the bright star of the team. With Lori Petty as the unlikely pitcher, Madonna as the fast talking, worldly-wise Mae and Rosie O’Donnell as the tough Doris who has a heart of gold.
