CicLAvia – The Valley: A Holiday Treat for Angelenos | Sunday, Dec. 8 2024

The streets of the San Fernando Valley are gearing up for a festive transformation! On Sunday, December 8, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., CicLAvia – The Valley returns with its final event of the year, promising a vibrant day of car-free streets and community celebration. Spanning five miles along Sherman Way, this beloved open-streets event connects Canoga Park, Winnetka, and Reseda, creating a temporary urban playground for Angelenos of all ages.

A Festive Ride Through the Valley

With the holidays just around the corner, CicLAvia – The Valley offers the perfect excuse to ditch the car, grab your bike, roller skates, or walking shoes, and embrace the joy of people-powered transportation. Whether you’re biking with friends, jogging solo, or simply soaking in the lively atmosphere, this pop-up park experience promises something for everyone.

Three community hubs—each buzzing with activities—will anchor the route. Stop by:

  • The Canoga Park Hub (near Shoup Ave and Sherman Way)
  • The Winnetka Hub (near Winnetka Ave and Sherman Way)
  • The Reseda Hub (near Lindley Ave and Sherman Way)

These hubs offer family-friendly fun, bike repair stations, water refilling spots, and even free pedicab rides. Plus, it’s a chance to explore local gems along the route, from quirky shops to tasty eats.

Wrapping Up 2024 in Style

CicLAvia’s 57th event caps off an incredible year of open streets, celebrating the progress made in pedestrian and bike infrastructure across Los Angeles. Romel Pascual, CicLAvia’s Executive Director, summed it up perfectly:

“We are excited to bring the energy and inspiration to 2025.”

Pacual continues, “We’ve had an inspired 2024 CicLAvia season, and The Valley CicLAvia is a terrific way to cap-off the season,” says CicLAvia Executive Director Romel Pascual. “Throughout 2024, we’ve seen more and more infrastructure improvements for pedestrian and bike safety and in public transit on our streets, and you will see more bike and pedestrian improvements along The Valley route. You will also see our communities join in a joyful CicLAvia Sunday. As we enjoy the final CicLAvia of the 2024 season, we extend our gratitude to the many partners and supporters who have helped bring CicLAvia Sundays to LA and the region.”

Modeled after Bogotá’s famed ciclovía, CicLAvia has been reimagining Los Angeles since 2010, transforming more than 326 miles of streets into vibrant, car-free zones. It’s not just about cycling—it’s about connection, sustainability, and rediscovering the beauty of LA’s neighborhoods.

Over the past 14 years CicLAvia has helped communities re-imagine a greener and cleaner Los Angeles, while also promoting equitable transportation options, healthier lifestyles, and closer connections to community.

With three Hubs filled with plenty of activities and programs along the route, CicLAvia – The Valley will be both fun and engaging for all to enjoy. Hubs are walking zones (bike dismounts) and meeting points along the route with the Canoga Park Hub located near Shoup Ave and Sherman Way; the Winnetka Hub located near Winnetka Ave and Sherman Way; and the Reseda Hub located near Lindley Ave and Sherman Way. Hubs offer family-friendly activities, restrooms, free water refilling stations, free basic bike repair, bike parking, and first aid.
