Slate Political Gabfest Live in L.A.
Wednesday, March 1 7:30pm
For the first time ever Slate’s Political Gabfest will be live in Los Angeles!
Join Emily Bazelon of the New York Times Magazine, John Dickerson of Face the Nation, and David Plotz of Atlas Obscura at The Theatre at The Ace Hotel for a bold and witty discussion of today’s politics, the state of the new Trump administration, and current events with a live Q-and-A session immediately after the show. For a very limited number of fans there will be a pre-show cocktail hour with the hosts from 6:00 p.m.– 7:00 p.m. Those who purchase the cocktail ticket package will receive one complimentary drink with the hosts beforehand and select seating at the show.

PPLA Food Fare
Thursday, March 2
From its prestigious beginnings as a cooking demonstration with Julia Child in 1979, Food Fare has become one of the most recognized culinary fundraisers in Los Angeles. Food Fare features well over 150 of LA’s best restaurants, caterers, wineries, breweries, libation purveyors and retail merchants. Food Fare also includes a Wine Silent Auction, a Raffle for Choice, a Dream Experiences Auction and a VIP reception for sponsors. Proceeds from Food Fare benefit Planned Parenthood Los Angeles (PPLA) and in 2016, Food Fare raised over $920,000 in support of PPLA.

March Forth! A Spoken Word Celebration of Female Empowerment
Friday, March 3
This Women’s History Month, come to the Skirball for its second annual celebration of women who march forth. In the face of adversity, these women find their voices, inspiring diverse communities to work together for a more just, inclusive, and equitable society. This year’s program features dynamic performances from some of the finest female spoken word artists and musicians in California.

Cherry Blossom Festival at Descanso Gardens

Descanso Garden’s most popular festival returns with two weekends of live music, origami, good food and beautiful blooms. Timed tickets are required and must be reserved in advance.

Dana Point Festival of Whales
March 4-5 & 11-12
The annual Dana Point Festival of Whales, happens the first two weekends in March Saturday and Sunday. Celebrating the return of the once-endangered California Gray Whale with a leviathan-size event. This annual celebration draws more than 100,000 visitors from around the world to Dana Point each year during the height of the Gray Whale Watching season.

LA IPA Festival

Calling all hop heads and IPA-lovers alike! The Fourth Annual LA IPA Festival is happening at Mohawk Bend! 60+ IPAs – all brewed in our Golden State! In collaboration with the City of Los Angeles’ Big Read honoring the poetry of Emily Dickinson, Grand Park’s Downtown Bookfest turns Dickinson’s poetry inside out with performances by Cut Chemist + Hymnal, David Prather and Mayda Del Valle. Free hands-on activities include creating your own pieces of poetic genius with PUBLISH! by Writ Large Press, constructing handmade books using dried plant specimens, a photo booth with Victorian-era props and prose, free writing advice, 826LA’s never-ending story, and pop-up bookshops for literary lovers big and small.

Cochon555 Los Angeles

Created in 2008 in response to the lack of education around heritage breed pigs, Cochon555 is a nose-to-tail competition dedicated to supporting family farmers and educating chefs and diners about the agricultural importance of utilizing Old World livestock. We work with every type of restaurant and bar imaginable – Mom-and-Pop, farm-to-table, BBQ, Michelin star – and our participating chefs all share one core value: they source products responsibly. Our epic 2017 culinary tour starts in New York City and culminates with the finale, Grand Cochon.

CicLAvia: Culver City Meets Venice

CicLAvia heads back to one of fan-favorite routes for the first event of 2017! On March 26, Culver City, Mar Vista, and Venice will host the country’s largest open streets event! Streets will be closed to cars and open for cyclists, pedestrians, runners and skaters to use as a recreational space.
