Last Minute Los Angeles Valentine’s Day Ideas That Are Not a Pricey Prix Fixe Dinner

It happens every year. Whether you’re single, coupled up, or going out for drinks with the girls, inevitably you keep pushing back on making the dinner reservation, perhaps due to the prevalence of pricey prix fixe menus or holding out hopes for a date and then suddenly Valentine’s Day has arrived and every restaurant in town seems to be booked. Fear not! I’ve compiled a list of Valentine’s Day ideas, parties, and film screenings all over town great for couples, groups, and singles alike. Happy Valentine’s Day!

Dance & Music at Union Station
Metro Art Los Angeles presents a special evening of kizomba for Valentine’s Day! A FREE kizomba lesson by Chris Kizomba will be followed by social dancing, accompanied by live music featuring Ricardo Lemvo y Makina Loca. Kizomba is both a dance and a style of music, which developed in Angola in the 1980s and 1990s. The dance derives strongly from zouk, a Caribbean Carnivalesque quick rhythm originating in the islands of Guadeloupe and Martinique, and which is reminiscent of reggaeton and Brazilian funk. Zouk, which means party or festival, drifted to Angola, where it mixed with traditional Angolan music and semba, the Angolan origin of Brazilian samba, resulting in kizomba.

Jazz at Angel City
Come join The Vignes Rooftop Revival for beer and tacos at Angel City Brewery. Live music from 730-930pm with food by Downtown Taco Co. and great beer brewed right here in the Arts District!

Lady and the Tramp
“Lady and the Tramp” is one of Walt Disney Animation’s most romantic movies and makes for a perfect movie to share with your sweetheart over Valentine’s Day. For a limited time, you’ll be able to see it on the big screen at Hollywood’s legendary El Capitan Theatre. The special engagement runs February 12-15 with four shows throughout the day.

Roman Holiday
Celebrate Valentine’s Day with the radiant and stylish love story that made Audrey Hepburn Hollywood’s favorite Valentine! Fall in love with this classic all over again in the Los Angeles Theatre, a fairy-tale movie palace with crystal chandeliers, golden angels and opulent decor.

Mahogany at The Hammer
Diana Ross plays a Chicago shopgirl who ends up in the glamorous world of modeling and caught in a romantic quadrangle between a photographer (Anthony Perkins), a rich count (Jean-Pierre Aumont), and an activist (Billy Dee Williams). Codirected by Motown founder Berry Gordy. (1975, dir. Barry Gordy, Tony Richardson, Jack Wormser, 109 min.) A Q&A with Tisa Bryant and Ernest Hardy follows the screening.

Ace Hotel
Ace Hotel in DTLA is offering several V-Day choices. Their restaurant, Best Girl, is offering a seafood feast. Get gussied up at the DIY corsage and boutonniere station. Watch a preview screening of F*ck Yes season 2 during this mixer and fundraiser, or enjoy free comedy.
