Two weeks after April Fool’s Day, and like a cruel joke, tax day falls on a Monday this year. In a just world, shouldn’t it always fall on a Friday? If you’re trying to celebrate big or drown your sorrows, these Tax Day specials are so good, they’re almost guaranteed to cheer you up. Here’s where to celebrate, commiserate and generally just be thankful you got through another year of taxes.
Big Bar
Los Feliz favorite Big Bar is featuring $8 Leblon Caipirinhas. Enjoy Brazil’s famous national cocktail at the bar or on the spacious patio.
Brack Shop Tavern
DTLA’s Brack Shop Tavern welcomes Three Weavers Brewing for an evening of flights and tastings on Tax Day. A Three Weavers representative will be on hand to talk with guests. Specials include $5 Tulips and $5 Flights: Midnight Flight Stout, Expatriate IPA and Seafarer Kolsch.
District
DTLA’s District restaurant is offering half-off bottles of California wine all day and night on Monday from California vintners.
Faith & Flower
Beverage Director Ryan Wainwright is offering $8 House Single Barrel Old Fashioneds with Weller 107 at Faith & Flower and The Ponte.
Highland Park Bowl
Nab $1 old-fashioneds in one of Highland Park’s most fun bars from 5 to 8pm and be sure to reserve a bowling lane in advance.
Idle Hour
NoHo’s iconic Idle Hour bar will be pouring $1 Moscow mules on the patio and in the barrel-shaped barroom from 4 to 7pm.
Jane Q
The ground-floor restaurant in Hollywood’s Kimpton Everly Hotel is offering a personal pizza with a draft beer, all for just $10.40.
La Cuevita
Highland Park’s legendary dive is offering $1 tequila presses and Mexi mulesfrom 5 to 8pm on Tax Day, and mojitos in a range of flavors for only $6 until 8pm.
Oldfield’s Liquor Room
This Culver mainstay is slinging $1 old-fashioneds on Monday night from 5 to 8pm or until the well runs dry.
Seven Grand
For Tax Day the acclaimed Downtown L.A. whiskey bar, Seven Grand is offering Toki Highballs and Kentucky Kold Brews all night for $6.
The Pie Hole
All six L.A.-area locations— the Arts District, Hollywood, Glendale, Venice, Long Beach or Pasadena—will be giving away 16-ounce cups of drip coffee with every purchase.
Thirsty Crow
The Silver Lake watering hole boasts $1 old-fashioneds from 5 to 8pm on Monday (while supplies last).
