All the Best Food at Smorgasburg DTLA

Smorgasburg is back! And it’s better than ever! Actually, it’s never went away. But now that it’s (almost) summer in Los Angeles there’s no better time than now to spend a Sunday downtown at Smorgasburg, the weekly Sunday market that takes over five acres at The Row DTLA. Whether you’re a vegan, vegetarian, or serious carnivore Smorgasburg has you covered with dozens of food trucks and pop ups from all over LA and serving a serious array of dishes from all over the world. It’s the foodiest food festival in Los Angeles.

Carole Lombard & William Powell’s Spanish Villa in Whitley Heights – 6861 Iris Circle

In the 1920s Whitley Heights was Hollywood’s first neighborhood hideout for Golden Era celebrities. Carole Lombard and William Powell, two of the day’s brightest stars, lived in this swanky four bedroom, four bathroom Spanish villa on the quiet side of Iris Circle.

Find Your True Fork at Wanderlust Hollywood

Wanderlust Hollywood is quickly becoming a one stop shop for Angelenos interested in yoga, nutrition, and meditation. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that Wanderlust also hosts film screenings, jewelry making, comedy shows, and, yes, my favorite, wine tastings all in their Highland Avenue outpost. This summer, Wanderlust Hollywood is hosting the Find Your True Fork dinner series that promises to showcase healthy, sustainable and ethical food choices through the lens of six influential chefs, spotlighting their own unique approaches to mindful eating with themed dinners and food experiences. Their next dinner will host chef Seamus Mullen and I hope to see you there! Plus, there’s a cookbook so we’ll be able to make these delicious meals at home! Gather, dine, explore and expand your palate and find the true fork that suits you.

Get Down to Wolfdown in Silver Lake

Wolfdown has finally opened in Silver Lake. The restaurant, in the former longtime Nicky D’s Pizza space, is from Jason and Chrissy Kim, the proprietors of nearby Sunset Boulevard stalwart Forage. The stunning remodeled space is like climbing into an adult-friendly treehouse (unlike Forage, there’sna beer and wine), the desserts are delicious, and pretty soon everyone in town is going to be talking about Wolfdown’s Korean fried chicken.

A Mid-Century-style New Build in Silver Lake – 1677 Lucile

Funny, it looks like it could be a mid-century classic from one of our many Los Angeles-based masters of architecture. Yet this three bedroom, three bathroom home was built just this year and though it may share many aspects with a masterpiece by Neutra or Lautner, once you’re inside you’ll find 1677 Lucile has a feel and aesthetic all its own.

Kettle Black Has Silver Lake’s Best Happy Hour

If you’re like me you love a good, short happy hour. I don’t mean the hours, of course. I mean the menu. There’s something pleasurably decadent about being able to say, “One of everything!” Kettle Black, the newish Italian restaurant and bar in Silver Lake, boasts such a menu. There are only five food items plus specials on Peronis, glasses of red and white wine, and cocktails including Punch, Manhattan, Negroni, and Aperol Spritz. Kettle Black is as stylish as it is delicious.
