Same Same in Silver Lake is Not Your Average Thai

“Spicy. Family. Party.” is the tagline for this hip new restaurant in Silver Lake. Formerly the home to Rambutan Thai, Same Same is the brainchild of owners Katy Noochlaor and Annie Daniel.

With a pared down menu consisting of inexpensive street food Thai dishes including pia sod spring rolls, mussel pancakes with house delicious Sriracha, bowls of BBQ pork noodles, Same Same enters the competitive East side dining scene with an edge.

But Same Same isn’t content to only serve some of the best modern Thai dishes in town. The wine and beer bar concept was designed and developed by Last Word Hospitality. On the menu are playful, elegant, and comparatively inexpensive pinot noirs and rieslings. There’s also a growing beer list.

The dining room has been completely remodeled and includes bar seating, a banquette for dining, and, of course, flashes of neon. All combined, Same Same is a casual eatery and bar perfectly suited to the neighborhood.

My bartender was more than helpful and offered impressive wine pairing suggestions for the Kuaytiaw Tom Yum. Grab a glass of wine with friends or a bowl of rice to go.
