$1 oysters? Endless rosé? Delicious, fresh seafood at nearly half off? Oyster Hour at Herringbone in Santa Monica is the west side’s best happy hour. Perfect for seafood lovers and for rosé lovers it’s even better.
Herringbone is located just a block from the beach. Their “Oyster Hour” is daily from 3-7pm and this includes a selection of half-off entrees, $1 oysters, and $6 glasses of rosé. The vibe is loungey, the clientele hip and stylish, and the glasses of rosé seriously good pours. Herringbone is all about “Fish Meats Field,” where farm fresh cuisine meets an emphasis on line-caught seafood and meats.
Herringbone’s chef Brian Malarkey is a Top Chef finalist and a winning mentor on ABC’s The Taste. Malarkey delights in pairing the freshest seafood and meat with seasonal produce to create delectable dishes that highlight the flavors of both.
The Oyster Hour menu allows guests to try wonderful dishes at slashed prices. Start with the oysters, of course. At $1 an oyster, what’s the perfect amount of oysters per person. 2? 4? 6? More? The oysters are fresh and served on ice with Kimchee Mignonette, Apple Cider, Sambal Cocktail Sauce.
Follow that with the Ceviche Tostada with Serrano, Red Onion, Cilantro, Lime, Radish, Guacamole. During dinner it’s $21 dollars but at Oyster Hour it’s a steal at just $10. The ceviche itself was refreshing and not too fishy. It’s also quite large and perfect for sharing.
No happy hour is complete with fries and Herringbone’s Boardwalk Fries are just the thing you need after a sunny day at the beach. Served with Old Bay Malt Vinegar aioli and ketchup. The Mussells Tikka comes with cilantro and grilled Flatbread. It’s usually $19, but is just $10 from 3-7. You may be wondering if the dishes decrease in size or quality during happy hour. You’ll be glad to know the answer is no. Chef Malarkey wouldn’t do that to us.
A favorite of many are Herringbone’s signature Lollipop Wings. The wings are served with Pickled Cucumber & Carrots, Chili, Cilantro, Garlic, and Peanuts.
A glass of Listel Rosé will set you back only $6 (marked down from $12) and you will be anything but disappointed by the pour. Beers go for just $5 and cocktails $8. Depending on your poison, Herringbone delivers. Herringbone offers fun twists on classic concepts, like the Santa Monica Aviation – Bulldog gin, Luxardo Maraschino liqueur , Creme Yvette, & lemon – and the Espoloma – Espolon Silver tequila, Giffard Pamplemousse liqueur , lime, grapefruit, and club soda.
On Saturdays and Sundays Herringbone also offers Endless Rosé from 10am – 2pm. Bottomless glasses of rosé at just $25 per person. Rosé fans rejoice.

Don’t let the fact that Herringbone is now a chain of restaurants fool you. One of their locations may be in Vegas, but Herringbone’s commitment to quality shines through. Herringbone’s Oyster Hour was a pleasant surprise in the usually pricey Santa Monica neighborhood – you’ll leave filled but without having to worry about your bank account balance. It’s the perfect spot to grab drinks and dinner for date night before taking a stroll along Santa Monica beach underneath a warm summer night’s stars.
