Museum of Ice Cream Opens in Los Angeles!

Fantasy comes to life at the Museum of Ice Cream! The museum will be opening its doors this Saturday, April 22 in the Arts District of Los Angeles. The wildly popular New York location sold 30,000 tickets in a matter of days, leading to a wait-list of more than 200,000 people. So, needless to say, get your tickets now! And go hungry!

The mission for the museum is to create an environment that brings people together and provokes their imagination. The Los Angeles pop-up location will be four times bigger than the wildly popular New York installation, which also presumedly means there will be four times the ice cream! In a Willy Wonka-esque display of everyone’s favorite after dinner or (any time) dessert, the LA outpost located in the Arts District, will feature ice cream-inspired artworks such as a mock banana split with 10,000 bananas, a “melted popsicle jungle,” a mint “grow house,” and a sprinkle swimming pool filled with 100 million custom-made sprinkles. And, yes, you will be actually able to jump in and take a dip!

And don’t worry, ice cream will also be available at the museum. Tickets include two curated ice cream tastings and surprise edible treats. Los Angeles-based creameries McConnell’s, Salt & Straw, Coolhaus x Cuisinart, CREAM, and others will provide their delicious ice cream flavors.

And for the dessert lover in your life, you will be able to purchase ice-cream inspired gifts likecustom sprinkles, ice-cream scoopers, and even a ping pong table. Get your Christmas shopping done early!

The colorful and quirky Museum of Ice Cream will only be In LA for one month and the plan is to eventually take the museum on the road.

And as if you aren’t in blissful sensory overload already, you won’t just be able to taste ice cream, you will smell it too. The museum has worked closely with flavor and fragrance scientists at the International Flavors & Fragrances corporation to create scents inspired by ice cream flavors and toppings. This museum isn’t joking around!

And in a cue from Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory, there will be a chance to find a golden chocolate and win a major prize.

L.A.’s Museum of Ice Cream officially opens on April 22 and runs through May 29. A lot of dates are already sold out! For $29 ($18 for kids and seniors), you get “two curated ice cream tastings and surprise edible treats” in addition to museum admission and the accompanying wealth of Instagram opportunities. Get your Museum of Ice Cream tickets here!

The museum is in the happening Arts District, so I suggest having lunch or dinner at nearby hotspots Bestia, Church & State, Manuela or Little Bear beforehand, but leave room for dessert.  The Museum of Ice Cream will most definitely be a magical place and most likely your only opportunity in life to dive into a pool of sprinkles. Enjoy!
