Home for the Holidays: Baking with Milk Bar’s award-winning chef and owner, Christina Tosi

As we near the end of 2021, I wanted to take a moment to thank my readers, colleagues, clients, friends, and family for and incredible year and invite you to join me for a special and exclusive virtual event, Home for the Holidays: Baking with Milk Bar’s award-winning chef and owner, Christina Tosi, on Saturday, December 11th.

Milk Bar is a sweet (and occasionally savory) shop that’s been turning familiar treats upside down and on their heads, shaking up the dessert scene since 2008. Founded by James Beard award-winning pastry chef Christina Tosi, Milk Bar first opened its doors in NYC’s East Village, and soon developed a loyal fanbase. Tosi owns the chain with the Manhattan-based Momofuku restaurant group. Recently profiled on Netflix’s docu-series Chef’s Table, Tosi is known for combining her formal culinary training and her informal obsession with home baking, grocery store staples and classic American sweets, with menu items like the Compost Cookie®, layer cakes with unfrosted sides, Cereal Milk™ Soft Serve, Milk Bar Pie and more. At Milk Bar, theybelieve in the transformative power of a really freakin’ good cookie or an outstanding piece of cake. And they consider NO occasion at all, to be a perfectly valid occasion to celebrate yourself or someone else.

On Saturday, December 11th, Christina will guide us in baking two holiday-themed cookie recipes during the 45-minute virtual cooking class and it’s perfect for family – so please feel free to have your loved ones bake alongside you.

You can download the recipe cards for the Chocolate Peppermint Cutout Cookies and Sugar Sugar Cookies here, although many of these standard ingredients you may have in your pantry already. And if you can’t wait until the 11th for the live cooking class, feel free to print out the recipe and try making these delicious beauties on your own. We’re just days away from Thanksgiving after all.
