Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors

The Broad’s first visiting special exhibition, Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors is the first institutional survey to explore the celebrated Japanese artist’s immersive Infinity Mirror Rooms. This exhibition will embark on the most significant North American tour of her work in nearly two decades, and The Broad will be the only California museum to host the exhibition.

Waters pokes fun at the holiday season with adult-appropriate humor, effectively “putting the X in Xmas,” developing a show for the open minded and slightly left-of-center audience.

Enchanted: Forest of Light
Until Sunday, January 7
Enchanted: Forest of Light is an interactive, nighttime experience unlike anything else in Los Angeles, featuring a one-mile walk through unique lighting experiences in some of the most beloved areas of Descanso Gardens. Enchanted is a rain or shine event. Tickets have timed entry and must be purchased in advance.

LA Zoo Lights
Until Sunday, January 7
L.A. Zoo Lights is a not-to-be-missed nighttime holiday light experience that debuted in 2014 and has glowed brighter each year since. This year’s event promises to be even more magical than ever – with dazzling new displays and details throughout.

Museum of Failure

Museum of Failure is a collection of interesting innovation failures. The majority of all innovation projects fail and the museum showcases these failures to provide visitors a fascinating learning experience. Los Angeles Auto Show
Friday December 1 2017 – Sunday December 10 2017
One of the world’s largest auto shows returns with 1,000 vehicles December 1-10, 2017 at the LA Convention Center. Whether it’s hassle-free vehicle shopping, experiencing the latest technology or exploring an assortment of customized rides and exotics, there is something for everyone at the show. Tickets start at $5 for children, and $12-15 for adults.

Holiday Lamplight Celebration
Saturday, December 2 2017 – Sunday, December 3 2017
Witness as the past becomes the present among the beautiful glow of Victorian homes at Heritage Square’s annual holiday event.  $30 for Adults, $15 for Children over 6 years*. Members get 20% off tickets-limited and incremental to their member level. Advance reservations are required and can be made beginning November 1. *This program not suitable for children under 6 years. As an evening tour, guests need to be aware of dimly lit conditions, walking on uneven surfaces, up and down steps, and long periods of standing.

Culver City Downtown Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration
Thursday, December 7
Celebrate peace, good will and the holiday season at this annual event. See Santa Claus as he makes a very special visit, all the way from the North Pole, in honor of Culver City’s Centennial. Downtown Culver City businesses provide the hot cider, hot cocoa, cookies and other festive treats that are sure to make everyone feel merry. Enjoy performances local choirs, as well as appearances by the Mayor and city council members. Culver City makes this holiday celebration “green” and energy efficient, lighting a beautiful 22-foot Rocky Mountain pine tree with over 7,500 warm-white LED lights. Stay afterwards for dinner at one of Downtown Culver City’s many restaurants, or take a stroll down the boulevards.

Friday December 8 2017 – Sunday January 21 2018
LUZIA takes you to an imaginary Mexico, like in a waking dream, where light (“luz” in Spanish) quenches the spirit and rain (“lluvia”) soothes the soul. With a surrealistic series of grand visual surprises and breathtaking acrobatic performances, LUZIA cleverly brings to the stage multiple places, faces and sounds of Mexico taken from both tradition and modernity.

Festival of Carols
Saturday December 2 2017 – Saturday December 9 2017
It’s the most wonderful – and our most popular– time of the year! Herald the arrival of the holidays with our annual selection of favorite carols and songs sublimely sung by the Los Angeles Master Chorale. Artist-in-Residence Eric Whitacre will conduct this year’s array of festive treats, combining traditional favorites with new arrangements, and some additional seasonal surprises.

Marina Del Rey Boat Parade

There is no frost in LA, we all live in apartments and our smartphone ringtones are the only things ringing, BUT each December we DO have the absolute-best-time-you-can-have-on-concrete-under-palm-trees… The 2017 SANTA Monica Pub Crawl is set for Saturday, December 16th! Last year, more than 6,000 people crawled their hearts out to 30 bars, raising over $20,000 dollars for the Westside Food Bank!

L.A. County Holiday Celebration

Highlights of this year’s L.A. County Holiday Celebration include many performers returning to the show, including  Harmonic Bronze Handbell Ensemble, which will perform a classical handbell piece that celebrates Christmas and Hanukkah; the Palmdale High School Choral Union and Sunday Night Singers, who will sing holiday songs; the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Band, which will play a medley of holiday favorites; the MUSYCA Children’s Choir, which will perform Christmas songs written by contemporary artists; Mostly Kosher, which will play upbeat Jewish folk and holiday songs; the Jung Im Lee Korean Dance Company, which will perform a Korean drumming dance; and Las Colibri, which will perform a collection of holiday songs.
