Hollywood Forever holds its 24th installment of their iconic Día y Noche de los Muertos celebrations this Saturday featuring art installations, altars and ofrendas, food and drinks, cultural and musical performances all celebrating the living and the dead. Daytime performances by DannyLux and Irene Diaz with DJs from Altura art gallery studio space in Lincoln Heights (DJ Fuego, DJ Fondo, DJ Discos Rolas & DJ Cozmic Vibes). The nighttime performers include Bomba Estereo, Bratty, Camila Fernandez and Banda Las Angelinas, beats by Nochenegra from Mexico City featuring DJ Mar and DJ El Keamo. ‘The Bride of Frankenstein’ with Live Orchestra

The LA Opera’s annual presentation of movies and live music returns with director James Whale’s 1935 gothic horror classic The Bride of Frankenstein. While the film screens, the audience hears composer Franz Waxman’s original soundtrack score played live by the LA Opera Orchestra. Jenny Wong, the newly appointed San Francisco Symphony Chorus Director and the Associate Artistic Director of the Los Angeles Master Chorale, conducts in her LA Opera debut. The audience is invited to come in costume.

Run the 110 Freeway 10k

Run or walk the Arroyo Seco Parkway, better known as the 110 Freeway—and best known as the freeway with the really short on-ramps. But for this 10k, you don’t have to worry about dodging cars as the road will be closed to everyone except you and a couple thousand of your closest running pals. Runners are encouraged to begin lining up no later than 6:45 a.m. at Orange Grove St. The race will start on time at 7 a.m. Participants will then hit the on-ramp and head north toward Pasadena and turn around after passing the Fair Oaks overpass bridge, ending near the Avenue 26 exit. This event is part of ArroyoFest, which is free to attend.

Celebrate the 20th anniversary of ArroyoFest, which was first hosted on June 15, 2003, seven years before the first cicLAvia. The event provides the public the opportunity to experience the national historic byway—the 110 Freeway, which first opened in 1940—up close. The freeway will be closed off to traffic from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. and open for walking, biking and skating. Off the freeway, Mission St. will be closed to cars through 2 p.m. The event is easily accessible via Metro.

West Hollywood loves Halloween, and the City of West Hollywood is thrilled that Halloween is back with Halloween Carnaval 2023! The City’s incomparable Halloween Carnaval is one of the most unique Halloween gatherings in the world. Halloween Carnaval is free to attend and will take place on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. on a one-mile stretch of Santa Monica Boulevard between N. Doheny Drive and N. La Cienega Boulevard. Staged on Santa Monica Boulevard/Historic Route 66, Halloween Carnaval will feature a stage at the intersection of Santa Monica Boulevard and N. San Vicente Boulevard with a live DJ set, food trucks and thousands of wildly dressed Halloween revelers for a one-of-a-kind experience. There will also be Halloween celebrations at businesses, bars, restaurants and entertainment venues throughout the City! The City invites Halloween Carnaval-goers to get into the spirit and show off costumes by uploading photos to social media sites with the hashtag #wehohalloween.
