Hollywood’s latest rooftop hotspot has officially opened at the Dream Hollywood Hotel and it is gorgeous. The Highlight Room boasts some of the most amazing views (and cocktails) in the city. Take a look inside and find out about upcoming events at The Highlight Room and how to get a table.
The Highlight Room is meant to be a restaurant, bar, a night club, and a poolside getaway for hotel guests all at once. And for the most part, The Highlight Room succeeds. The Highlight Room is, of course, Tao Group’s newest dining and nightlife concept. The luxe 11,000 square foot outdoor terrace is set high above Hollywood and has priceless aerial views of both the Hollywood sign and downtown Los Angeles’s ever expanding skyline.
The Highlight Room’s chic, modern sundeck is the ideal destination to relax by the pool on plush loungers or private cabanas while enjoying a light menu of Californian fare and handcrafted refreshments. The restaurant serves guests signature drinks and freshly prepared Californian fare from breakfast until mid-day. At sundown, this Hollywood retreat opens its doors to the rooftop bar and lounge.
If you’re with a small group you can’t go wrong with The Highlight Room’s light tapas sharing friendly menu. The House Salt ‘N Vinegar Chips with caramelized onion dip, Wood Oven Cauliflower with yellow curry salt, the Avocado Toast with a poached egg, creamed leeks, radish, and chili flake were all favorites. The Sunset Strip Flatbread and the Hamachi Crudo Yellowtail with grapefruit, white ponzu, and fresno chili, and the Lobster Toast with poached Maine lobsert, heirloom tomato, tarragon, and avocado were all three delicious. If you still have room, finish with oysters on the half shell.
Cocktails are not cheap, but they are made with care and only the freshest local ingredients. On a hot summer evening you’ll love the Watermelon Mint Lemonade – Absolut Elyx Vodka, cold pressed watermelon, lemon juice, and mint – and The Poolside – Bertaud Belieu Rosé wine, sigani,63 Brandy St. Germain liqueur, fresh citrus, and red grapes. The wine list is short but smart, while the beer list leaves a bit to be desired. Revelers looking to relax by the pool should know cabanas require reservations and the entire rooftop is only available to hotel guests during the day. At 6pm during the week and 1pm on weekends, the rooftop opens up to the public. Check out events at The Hightlight Room below and be sure to call in advance for a reservation!
Cheers!
