The EastSide Food Festival returns to the gorgeous and historic Mack Sennett Studios this Sunday, October 22. The Food Fest is a gathering of the best of the best and rising stars from LA’s East side gastronomic scene. We’ll highlight a few below, but before we go further – for the next 24 hours you can purchase seriously reduced discount tickets via Groupon by clicking here. Be good to your stomach and your wallet at this year’s food fest.
The festival features over 35 food and beverage vendors including restaurants, celebrity chefs, locally owned brands and more from Los Angeles’s east side neighborhoods. And if you’re asking what constitutes LA’s “EastSide?” The Festival organizers explain:
“We know there are plenty of Los Angeles purists out there who will insist that East LA is not Silver Lake, not downtown, etc. We are not arguing this point! The EastSide Food Festival is not just about “East LA,” but the east side of LA. You wouldn’t say Echo Park was on the west side of LA would you? Certainly not! In our version of the east side, we basically include all neighborhoods east of Western. This includes East LA as well as Los Feliz, Silver Lake, East Hollywood, Koreatown, DTLA, Highland Park, Eagle Rock, Atwater, Echo Park, etc. The goal is to support locally owned and operated businesses in all of our local communities on the east side.”
This year’s food festival is also debuting Cannabis Corner, where select vendors will educate guests on the intricacies and complex flavor profiles cannabis can add to food, and benefits to health and wellness that can be gained from culinary cannabis infusions.
Featuring Chefs Brandin Lashea and Luke Reyes. The Cannabis Cooking 101 food demonstration will educate the home cook in ways to make a simple cannabis infused meal using quality culinary cannabis infused products. Chef Brandin Lashea is the host of “Pot Pie”, a popular original video series from PRØHBTD, a leader in Cannabis content. In this demonstration, Brandin and former Butchers and Barbers chef and winner of Food Network’s ‘CHOPPED’, Chef Luke Reyes will serve up quick and delicious dishes. Guests will be educated in techniques that entice the senses and elevate the mind, body and soul.
This year’s festival has an impressive roster of restaurants and chefs. Your tickets include all you can eat from our food and soft drink vendors, plus at least three bar drink tickets (five if you go VIP). There’s also discount non-drinker tickets if you prefer your Sundays booze-free and food filled.
Highlights this year include Alimento, Angel City Brewery, Auntie Em’s Kitchen, Bad Pickle Tees, Belcampo Meat Co, Belle’s Bagels, Better Booch, Big Green Egg, Black Hogg, Bombay Sapphire Gin, B.S. Taqueria, Buttonmash, Cabo Chips, Carnitas El Momo, Castle Gourmet, Challah Hub, Clover Juice, Donut Friend, Dune, El Condor, Elf Café, El Paraiso, Frankie Lucy Bakeshop, Go Get Em Tiger, Guelaguetza Micheladas, Homestate, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, Jolly Oyster, Kettle Black, Kikori Whiskey, Kitchen Mouse, Knuckle & Claw, L&E Oyster Bar, Langdon Shiverick Imports, Leelin Bakery & Café, Little Beast, Little Jewell of New Orleans, Lord Jones, McConnell’s Fine Ice Creams, Melissa’s Produce, Mexicali Taco, Momed, Moon Juice, Ohana Poke Co, Our Vodka, Pine & Crane, Pok Pok, Same Same, Sawyer, Silverlake Wine, Starry Kitchen, Sticky Rice, The Black Cat, The Oinkster, Todo Verde, Trois Familia, Umami Burger, Ventura Spirits, Wax Paper, Whole Foods Market, and Wood.
With a focus on the evolving and diverse scenes of LA’s EastSide neighborhoods, the festival highlights all aspects of culture in our communities. As in years previous, this year will include discussion panels and food demos with appearances by musicians, artists, chefs, and more – all who share one universal thing – the love of food, and a passion for talking about it.
And perhaps the best aspect of the festival? They’ve partnered with PATH, a family of agencies that works to end homelessness through housing and supportive services throughout Southern California. Your involvement with this event supports their goal in achieving a generous fiscal donation to PATH.
The festival organizers guarantee that Eastside Food Festival attendees won’t go home hungry. And it’s not just VIPs who get to have fun. All festival-goers can enjoy a live DJ and enter to win raffle prizes.
I’ll be at the EastSide Food Festival this weekend. Let me know if we can grab a cocktail! Or a bowl of ceviche!
Cheers!
