Celebrity Real Estate Review – January 2018

Here you can take a closer look at a select and exclusive group of celebrity real estate deals including the purchases, sales, and listings of Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West, Rihanna, Whoopi Goldberg, Anna Faris, Don Cheadle, and the former home of the late, great Tom Petty.

Rihanna Seeks Tenant for West Hollywood Micro-Compound
Though it’s unlikely she lived there or even spent a single night on the premises, mononymic Barbadian international pop supernova Rihanna seeks a deep-pocketed tenant for a Spanish-modern mini-compound in a prime area of West Hollywood, Calif., that’s come available for lease, as noted the eagle-eyed property gossips at The Observer, at $16,500 per month. The singer, actress and fashion and beauty entrepreneur, née Robyn Fenty, purchased the property in early August 2017 for $2.75 million, quickly experienced a real estate change of heart and flipped it back up for sale less than three months later at $2.85 million. Set behind a high fence, an even higher and carefully clipped privet hedge and a motorized driveway gate, the fully updated and modern-minded 1920s Spanish residence measures in at 2,886-square-feet, per listing details, with four bedrooms and four bathrooms. A substantial detached guesthouse contains another bedroom and an additional 1.5 bathrooms plus a kitchenette.

Now the Los Angeles Times reports they’ve sold the place for $2.075 million, or $80,000 over asking. Concrete floors and huge floor-to-ceiling windows run throughout the almost 1,900-square-foot residence. The home was listed last January for $6.195 million, records show. Set on half an acre next to the Lakeside Golf Club, the home opens to a two-story rotunda set beneath a dome ceiling. Inside, an open floor plan features hardwood floors, walls of windows and a fireplace. Michael Bay’s old house in Bel Air lands $41M after a makeover
Could Michael Bay’s former Bel Air mansion be a transformer? Built in 1976, the late modern home sold three years ago for $11.45 million. But after a major overhaul overseen by Saota Architecture, the house hit the market again this year, and has now found a buyer for a whopping $41 million. That’s about eight times the $5.16 million that the director paid for the Jack Warner-designed residence when he bought it in 1999.

Comedian Chris Hardwick is buying a $5.6M Eagle Rock mansion
Comedian and Nerdist Industries founder Chris Hardwick is in escrow to buy a 1920s-era Eagle Rock mansion, Curbed has learned. Sharon Hills of Kobeissi Properties, who represented Hardwick in the sale, tells Curbed that she tipped Hardwick off to the property, and that he was taken with the house. His purchase of the Bekins estate was motivated in part by the worry that, because the property is so large, it could be sold and redeveloped or otherwise altered. “He truly bought this property to preserve it,” says Hills, who is also Hardwick’s mother.

Josh Duhamel Lands Encino Bachelor Pad
Last fall, model-turned-actor Josh Duhamel and mononymic pop star Fergie announced the dissolution of their 13-year relationship, eight of them married, and the “Transformers” franchise star made the split real estate official with the $2.65 million purchase of a modestly sized if not exactly inexpensive bachelor pad on a pin-drop quiet cul-de-sac high in the hills above Encino, California. Secreted behind an electronic driveway gate and a thick row of imposing privet hedges on a desirably flat, one-third-of-an-acre parcel with panoramic canyon and mountain views, the renovated and updated 1960s single-story residence has an open floor plan with five bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms in almost 3,300-square-feet.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West spent $20M renovating the home they just moved into
Kanye West and Kim Kardashian West sure like to remodel. After spending years renovating a Bel Airmansion (it sold late last year for $17.8 million), the power couple has now sunk an astonishing $20 million into an overhaul of their Hidden Hills estate, reports TMZ. That’s more or less equal to what West and Kardashian West paid for the house in 2014. At that time, it was a humble 15,000-square-foot mansion sitting on three acres with vineyards and a pair of swimming pools.
